In November 2026, the Multimedia Communication programme of the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) will formally undergo international accreditation review against the standards of QAA, United Kingdom. This is an important milestone in improving the quality of education, strengthening international integration and progressively bringing the programme in line with international standards.

As higher education becomes ever more internationally integrated, the quality of a programme is no longer judged only within a single institution or country; it also needs to be benchmarked against international standards and practice.

For PTIT’s Multimedia Communication programme, international accreditation is first and foremost an opportunity to be evaluated independently and comprehensively by external experts. Through this process, the programme can identify more clearly its strengths, the areas that need further improvement and the extent to which it meets international requirements for educational quality.

The significance of accreditation therefore lies not only in the outcome of recognition. More importantly, the preparation and review process motivates the programme to regularly review its aims and learning outcomes, curriculum content, teaching, learning and assessment, academic staff, learner support resources and quality assurance system.

It is also an opportunity to strengthen the involvement of stakeholders, including students, alumni, employers and partners, helping the programme stay closely aligned with practical needs and with the rapid changes in the communication field in the digital environment.

For students, a programme designed and run according to international quality standards helps create a learning environment that is transparent, student-centred and focused on outcomes. In the long term, benchmarking against international standards also strengthens the confidence of students, employers and partners, while supporting graduates’ further study, mobility and career development in an increasingly internationalised environment. QAA also identifies these as key values that international programme accreditation aims to deliver.

The review that PTIT’s Multimedia Communication programme is working towards is International Programme Accreditation (IPA) – international accreditation for higher education programmes delivered outside the United Kingdom. IPA evaluates a programme holistically, including the effectiveness of its quality assurance and enhancement processes in ensuring a high-quality learning experience for students. The scope of the review covers aims and learning outcomes; programme design and delivery; teaching, learning and assessment; resources and student support; quality assurance and management; public information; and stakeholder engagement.

A programme that successfully completes IPA is entitled to use the QAA International Programme Accreditation Mark, demonstrating that the way the programme is designed, developed and monitored is effective and comparable with international practice. Under QAA’s current rules, IPA accreditation is valid for 5 years, with a mid-cycle review in the third year.

Working towards IPA is therefore not simply about obtaining an international certificate; it is also an opportunity for PTIT’s Multimedia Communication programme to benchmark its quality against international standards, drive continuous improvement, and raise the programme’s visibility and credibility among students, employers and partners at home and abroad.

Working towards QAA international accreditation reflects the commitment of PTIT and the Faculty of Multimedia to continuously improving the quality of the Multimedia Communication programme, strengthening international integration and progressively bringing the programme in line with quality standards that are widely recognised around the world.
