From a student who lost her father at a young age and grew up in particularly difficult circumstances in the border region of Cao Bang Province, Dam Thuy Mai overcame numerous challenges to become a graduate of Multimedia Communications at the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT).
Four years ago, the story of Dam Thuy Mai, who was then living in Ta Lung Town, Quang Hoa District, Cao Bang Province, was featured by Vietnam National Defence Television in a report about students facing difficult circumstances in border areas.
Having lost her father at a young age, Mai grew up in a family facing many hardships. As a result, her educational journey was filled with challenges. However, support from the “Nang buoc em toi truong – Con nuoi don Bien phong” program (Supporting Children to School – Border Guard Station Foster Child), sponsorship from Major General Phung Quoc Tuan, and a scholarship from Him Lam Joint Stock Company gave Mai greater opportunities to continue pursuing her education.
From the Border Region to the Lecture Halls of PTIT
After completing high school, Mai chose to pursue Multimedia Communications at the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. That decision opened a new chapter in her life, taking a student from the border region into a university environment and an entirely new field of study.
Her first days at PTIT were also a period of significant adjustment. From adapting to university-level learning methods and meeting academic requirements to living far from home, every aspect of her new life required greater independence and determination.
Throughout her four years of study, Mai gradually built her knowledge, developed skills in multimedia communications, and successfully completed the academic program. Each milestone in her university journey brought her one step closer to the goal she had chosen for herself.
Four Years of Effort and One Memorable Day
After four years of study, Dam Thuy Mai officially received her Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Communications from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology.
The moment Mai walked across the stage to receive her degree marked the culmination of her four-year journey with a meaningful achievement. On that special day, she received congratulations from her lecturers, Border Guard officers and soldiers, and the many people who had supported her throughout her education.
Behind the bachelor’s degree was a journey that began in the border region of Cao Bang, where a young student facing particularly difficult circumstances had once encountered many obstacles simply to continue going to school. Four years later, she reached a new milestone: becoming a university graduate and preparing to begin the next chapter of her life.
A Journey of Perseverance from the Border Region
Dam Thuy Mai’s story was shaped not only by her own determination. Along the way, she also received support from her family, lecturers, Border Guard soldiers, and organizations that gave her the opportunity to continue her education.
Building on that initial support, Mai gradually made her own way through four years of university. Her bachelor’s degree therefore represents more than the completion of an academic program; it is also a testament to the personal growth of a young woman who began her journey from a background filled with challenges.
Today, Dam Thuy Mai has completed one chapter of her journey at PTIT and is ready to begin another. From a student growing up in a border region to a Multimedia Communications graduate, Mai’s story is one of perseverance, opportunity, and belief in the power of education.
The Faculty of Multimedia believes that, with the confidence, resilience, and knowledge she has developed throughout her years of study, Mai will move forward with determination, pursue what she is passionate about, and create meaningful value of her own.
The road ahead may bring new challenges, but we hope you will always believe in yourself and in everything you have worked so hard to build. And remember, the Faculty of Multimedia will always welcome you back at any time—to share new stories, to continue supporting one another, and to create even more meaningful things together.
