On the morning of February 20, 2025, D23 Journalism students had a memorable trip to the headquarters of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the electronic newspaper VietnamPlus. This was not only a change of scenery from the lecture hall but also an opportunity to see and hear firsthand about on of the most professional and modern journalism environments today!

First stop: the Vietnam News Agency headquarters at 5 Ly Thuong Kiet Street. Visiting one of the country’s largest news agencies, the students had the opportunity to discover how VNA fulfills its role as the national news agency, provides official information and pioneers the application of technology in journalism. Seeing reporters and editors at work firsthand-energized everyone and created a strong sense of excitement!

VietnamPlus: Digital journalism is not just a trend, it is the future! In the digital era, VietnamPlus has developed a strong presence across digital platforms, from data journalism and Infographics to AR and VR technologies. The insights shared by VietnamPlus Deputy Editor in Chief Nguyen Hoang Nhat and Head of the Multimedia Communications Department Tran Ngoc Long not only helped students better understand the requirements of modern journalism but also broadened many students’ perspectives on the technologies being applied in journalism.

Engaging Q&A: Real perspectives from experienced journalists: The eternal question “In the era of AI dominance, are there any opportunities left for young journalists?” was answered enthusiastically by experienced journalists. The good news is that journalism still needs young people who have both solid professional skills and the ability to adapt to the technological age. But most importantly, before learning how to use journalism tools, cultivate journalistic thinking, analytical skills, and sensitivity to the times!

Visiting the Heritage Room: A journey from the past to the future: Not only understanding modern journalism, the students also had the opportunity to look back at the development history of VNA, from its difficult early days to the major media organization it is today. The vivid photographs and documentary films helped the students better understand the mission of a journalist and appreciate the career they are pursuing even more.

What remains after this trip? A day with countless practical lessons, inspiring stories, and clearer orientations for the future path of journalism. Certainly, after this field trip, many students will be even more determined to train and continuously innovate to become true digital age journalists!

Beautiful photos are here, now just waiting for you to share your thoughts in the comments!
